2010 Fun Run:

Please check back often as we update the details below.

The Solomons Sevens Chapter of the Ohio Widows Sons is hosting their annual charitable event. This year Saturday August 21st 2010 will bring us the 4th Annual Fun Run and Show.  This annual event will be held to once again benefit the Special Olympics programs of Ohio.  Our event started in 2006 and has grown every year, once again this year we will be taking over the Madison County Fairgrounds located in London Ohio. This will be the second year at this location and we hope to make it bigger and better than ever. With this being a charity event we have combined two great events, by having a morning motorcycle ride and afternoon car cruise-in show.

Bikes:  The motorcycle ride is open to all motorcycles, groups. We will have registration from 10-11 that morning. Last bike out will be by noon. Cost is $20.00 for solo riders, and $30.00 for couples. Sorry for the increase this year, but remember this is a charity event, and we want to cover your event t-shirt and other expenses to increase the share of donation money.  The morning ride will start at the fairgrounds, located ¼ mile north of the intersection of 42 & 38 in London.  The ride will be a scavenger hunt style with various clues and facts from around our area, although this years route is not yet completed, we usually do about 100 miles, 3 hours, with really good roads, and interesting stops. Last bike in will be 4 p.m. back at the fairgrounds and your registration includes the admission back into our afternoon show.  Contact Big D (Darrin) with any questions

Cars: The Afternoon Car Cruise-In show is open to individual car and truck enthusiast or groups who wish to enter. The show registration is $10.00 per vehicle, which includes your entry, the first 100 receive the 4th annual Dash Plaque, a voting ballot, Vendors, band, and the Event Shirts will be available for purchase. Show will open with registration at 2 p.m. and continue through trophy presentations at 5.p.m. There will be classes, plus best in show; in additional we award a best club participation award, all voting is by people’s choice.  Contact Brian Knoll with any questions.

General: Of course besides all the cars and bikes to look at we want everyone to have a good time, so besides your balloting we will have various vendors on hand, also food and beverages, plus continuous music and a Live Band from 2-6pm..  One of our most popular events will also be returning; the charity auction of new miscellaneous items from oil change coupons and dinner gift cards, to OSU collectibles, with 100% of all funds for the benefit of the Special Olympics.  General admission gates open at 2 pm. with free parking.  Click here for pictures from last years Fun Run.

Sponsors/Vendors:    Lastly we are always looking for Sponsors. From small business’, to corporations or bike and car clubs. All sponsorships help us offset event cost and increase our charitable donation. Sponsors get valuable recognition at the event, and also listed on every event shirt that every participant receives. Vendors range from bike detailing, to jewelry, car accessories and are located inside our ‘vendor barn’.  We also have food and beverage concessions. Space rental is inexpensive and we are always looking for new vendors and sponsors to join in this great event. Some of our past years corporate sponsors include Mid-Ohio Harley Davidson, Competition Accessories, ReMax Team Advantage, Huntington National Bank, Advance Auto Parts, Ernie’s Medicine Shoppe, The Red Brick Tavern, Clifton Mill, and QFM96 WLVQ classic rock.

Over the last 25 years the Masons of Ohio has generated nearly 3 million dollars to benefit the Special Olympics programs of Ohio. The largest public event of this effort is the Ohio Special Olympics Summer Games held at Jessie Owens stadium at the Ohio State University in Columbus. Besides monetary donations, masons of Ohio host families traveling to Columbus, support the welcome center, and other volunteer services during the games. This year our chapter will be donating all proceeds from the Fun Run to Special Olympics Programs in our local counties of Clark, Champaign, and Madison. We ask that you come for a great ride, enjoy the cruise in, or just come visit our vendors, grab lunch and enjoy the band; we would greatly enjoy your company and the support of this worthwhile charity event.
